APRIL NEWS:

Selected works from my "Upstate" Series will be at the Tantillo Gallery in Albany (488 Broadway near Pine) the weekend of May 2nd. Opening reception from 5-9pm. This is a benefit for The Starlight Foundation, a New York City based organization whose mission is to help seriously ill children and their families cope with their pain, fear and isolation through entertainment, education and family activities.

The winner of the first Print Giveaway is Jacky Kirkpatrick---Congratulations, Jacky (a photo of the presentation will be here soon).

A month long show, in November, of selected works is scheduled at The MochaBlend Cafe espresso bar (720 Hoosick Street in Troy--just up the street from RPI ). Congratulations to them for being a top winner of Capital Region Living Magazine's "Best Lunch Spot for 2008". Click here for CRL Mag's write-up on MochaBlend.

MARCH NEWS:

3/24/08 -- ANNOUNCING "Victorian Variations - Reliving the Dream (Volume One)". This is a new "Blurb.com" book that Ken Peters and I have just released. Available in either hardcover or softcover, it is eighty pages of combined prose/poetry by Ken with digital imagers created using Photoshop and various filters by yours truly. The images are derived from Victorian era photographs of ladies in various stages of undress in a variety of classic poses on a plethora of decidedly non-computer generated and somewhat silly, but none-the-less effective, interior sets. Click on the Blurb link below for more information on the book, including an 18 page PDF "Preview" of it that you may download, as well as an e-commerce order page to purchase it online directly from Blurb.com (the link actually takes you to the Blurb website and bookstore).

3/16/08 - People are entering to win the print. That's cool. Just sign The Guestbook, mention what print you like and you're in the running. Elsewhere in the news, the images from Victorian Variations - Reliving the Dream (Vol 1) are now online. There's been some action regarding prints (see them here) from the book, so I am making them available. Stop by the Sales page for info on custom printing with the 100 year Velvia ink on the Canon ipf5000 printer. And the website is getting over 200 hits a week now. My HostGator webstats are reporting that there's people stopping by from Australia, Canada, South Africa, Sweden, Brazil, France, Poland, Switzerland, Austria, Boznia-Herzegovina, Germany and Kuwait that are milling about the site. Nice. Very nice. But where are the Central and South American amigos and amigas?

FEBRUARY NEWS:

2/25/08 - The book has been released! Ken and I did the final proof last night and it's uploaded and ready for prime time. The title: Victorian Variations - Reliving the Dream (Volume One). Available through the Blurb.com bookstore with a cool PDF preview of about 18 pages available here for download. And we already sold two copies today. Mary, from work, bought the first and Ken's friend Rita, number two. Cool. And, just as I suspected, NOBODY reads these notes. So I can pretty much say what I want here. The INCREDIBLE FREE PRINT GIVEAWAY has been active almost two weeks and not a single person has registered (entered) to win simply by signing The Guestbook. Amazing! Can't even give one away. Perhaps I might grab a quick reality check and figure this may be a complete waste of time. Yes, I think I'll do that. Now.

2/19/08 - BRAND NEW!! I'm going to hold a monthly drawing for A FREE PRINT. Each month I'll collect all the newest names (or revisits for the month) from The Guestbook and randomly pick one name for a free print (somewhere around an 8 1/2" x 11" or an 10" x 12" matted print). There'll be three requirements: 1) You need to register in The Guestbook (or re-register for each month to be eligible. 2) You need to leave some feedback when you sign The Guestbook on a print including the name/title of the print and something about why you do or don't like it, and 3) You need to be somewhere with a mailbox address so I can send you the print if you win it for the month. That's it. Oh yeah, you'd probably better leave an email address where winning results can be sent. And I promise I will respect your privacy. The email addresses will go nowhere except in a private file on my hard drive used only to notify you about the drawing(s). I'm seeing enough hits on my pages to know that people are visiting, so it would seem there may be some out there that might like to win a free print. Let's see what happens. The first drawing will be in the last week of March. That will be about five weeks from now to collect names for the "hat". Good luck.

02/06/08 - Final first draft of "Victorian Variations" uploaded to Blurb. After proofing this, we're ready to release it. Initial "reviews" were very positive.

02/12/08 - New project with Ken Peters, "Victorian Variations" book based on images of Victorian ladies. This will be a Blurb.com book.

01/16/08 - Jonathan Gradess suggests a one man show arrangement for fund raiser for New York Justice Fund of my work! Jacky Kirkpatrick volunteers to help with logistics. OK, it took a year, but it looks like it's going to fly!

12/05/07 - Returned from the trip with 3,900+ pics to run through this weekend ;-) Earth is a really amazing place. We should consider saving it.

11/02/07 - To Zion in a couple of days. Driving cross country and keeping the Nikons ready...

06/17/07 - Summer starts officially in a few days. What's there to say? Expecting massive upheavals in the weather based on Global Warming. Keeping my boots handy.

03/20/07 - Winter has taken its toll as far as travel and photographs go and work (my fulltime "day job" as a network adminstrator) has been hectic, so website development has gone slow. But printing has gone well—I have over a dozen matted prints ready for presentation. Work on The Gallery page commences this weekend.

02/27/07 - More news coming soon. I am preparing for a one man show, so making prints is taking priority this week.

02/01/07 - It's winter and for the last few weeks it seems to have hardly gotten up into the double digits in temperature. Today it was 4 above zero (fahrenheit). We had an amazing three feet of snow here on Valentine's Day which took a couple of days to dig out from under.
